Richard and Jessica upsize their home and lifestyle at Laureate Fields

Electronics engineer Richard, 32, and his wife Jessica, deputy manager of a childcare centre, chose Laureate Fields to step up the ladder, purchasing a four-bedroom detached house in May last year.

The couple put down a 20% deposit and Help to Buy provided a 20% Equity Loan, interest free for five years. They then took out a mortgage for the remainder of the purchase price.

The couple, who were living in a three-bedroom house in nearby Trimley, decided to upsize their home and lifestyle following the birth of their second daughter.

“We were looking within a 20-mile radius of Laureate Fields,” said Richard. “The finish of the kitchens and bathrooms was the kicker for me. The appliances were built in and the general finish of the decorating was excellent. The design and layout was far superior to other properties we looked at.”

Having lived in Gravesend in Kent and later Trimley, Richard was attracted to the lifestyle that Old Felixstowe offered.

“Everyone is friendly and it’s a nice compromise between countryside and urban living. There’s a lot of stuff within 20 minutes of Felixstowe. You have big brand shops and local shops – and around the house you have fields and the estuary. It’s lovely to wake up and see Kingsfleet.”

The houses at Laureate Fields are imaginatively designed to provide comfortable, well-planned living space, with every room flooded with natural light. With a variety of homes to suit all lifestyles, each property offers a contemporary specification finished in white satinwood with engineered oak floors to the kitchen/dining area.

Brushed steel sockets and light switches are used throughout as well as oak veneered doors with stylish chrome handles. Bathrooms are fitted with high-quality sanitaryware and finished with ceramic wall tiles with a feature wall, while the contemporary German-engineered designer kitchens benefit from a full-range of integrated appliances.

Laureate Fields offers a premium collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, with prices starting from £174,950. The development is situated next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that stretches north from the sea along the banks of the River Deben. From your door, you can enjoy picturesque country rambles or take a leisurely walk to Felixstowe Ferry, with its clapboard cottages, houseboats and ancient fishermen’s inn.
